Advice for school SENDCOs
If you are new to the role of SENDCO or preparing to review your policy and procedures around medical and mental health needs read our new section Advice to Schools which includes a section for SENDCOs.
Qualified and experienced Hospital School SENCO’s Sarah and Nicola identify key actions and considerations that will support students who are experiencing chronic or acute health conditions.
Growing awareness of the needs of young people with mental health needs means schools are beginning to reflect on what they are doing to support those experiencing physical and mental health conditions. Children and young people living with chronic illness can have associated mental health needs, this new section can help you check your knowledge and understanding in this area as well as guide a review of school policy and procedure.
